Paulie had been playing more and more with Crayons and after a trip to visit Gary's mom a box of finger paints and some paper had come back with him. Gary had laid some newspaper down on the floor, and sat in the chair watching the toddler and his many colors. a few slapped handprints of purple and yellow over other smeared colors.
"Trying to make a picture of home?" He asked, watching the boy working on his colorful image.
"Titi." It was all Paulie said, he was very slow with his speaking. He knew words, but it was clear he was going to be shy, just like Paul himself had been. He would babble at Gary and sometimes Malcolm and Sheila, but most got baby noises still. Or upset demands for 'Da.'
"Oh, it's for you're Titi, huh? What about uncle Monarch?" He asked patiently as another yellow handprint was slapped in the middle. The child looking proud. "That's for him, huh? I see." He nodded as Paulie smiled.
A while after Paulie was bathed and put to bed, Gary checked to see if the paints were still wet, before taking the painting and signing the back with Paulie's name and the date. Leaving it on his desk to dry more overnight, but tomorrow he would give it to Sheila before training began. She deserved to see what Paulie made for her.
