Oh yeah, mom used to be heavy into the scene back in the day when this kind of stuff was considered hella lame. Though, to be honest, Halloween costumes aside, I can only remember some Harry Potter robes back in like 7th grade. I outgrew that superfast though. Still, it's cool of her.
[ There were reasons his family heirloom had been a comic book. ]
I was born in England and Halloween isn't as big of a thing over there as it is here in the states so I never really got to dress up for it. I did have lots of costumes made for me for my ballet recitals though.
I did it professionally for about seven years so obviously I agree with you about it being cool and it certainly gave me a leg up for when I switched over to being a vigilante hero. Same thing with all the gymnastics and jiu jitsu classes I did.
Only if there's a Halloween party, I get invited too. Otherwise, it's handing out candy.
[ He totally wears the Jedi robes when he does that. But he also wears the cloak as a bathrobe so, he wears it a lot. ]
Oh yeah, totally makes sense, and makes you a total badass in my eyes. Wow, gymnastics and jiu jitsu. You have to be nimble as hell. I feel for the guys you fight. Do you have super powers? Hero and all.
What about if you threw your own party? And oh, I bet it's really fun handing out candy to all the kids. They're so cute.
Why thank you. And yes, I'm very nimble and flexible. I also have an extremely high pain tolerance from the years of ballet. No powers though, just a lot of training and a great suit.
Well if you're going to hand out candy maybe I'll get dressed up and come by. :)
It's dancing on your toes so much that your feet will bleed and you'll loose toenails along with suffering physical injuries so bad that it would take a football or soccer player out but still continuing to dance as if nothing has happened and smiling through the pain.
It was nice for the comradery but got a little awkward when we took in some teenage boys who liked to try and "accidentally" walk in on me in the shower.
You're going to make me blush if you keep up with the truth then, Gary.
Oh dude, mad sorry to hear that happened. You'd be surprised how common that is. I promise they tend to grow out of it. I know I did. Yeah, I was that kind of loser when I was younger.
[ At least his uncomfortable crush on his bosses' wife was a thing of the past now, but he could cringe looking back at some of his actions. ]
Well, that might be fun! Making a hero blush, come on. It's fun!
It's okay, they were just curious. I'm not really uncomfortable with being naked or having others see me naked but at the time I had a very jealous boyfriend also living in the space so it was more like I was worried he would go after them.
If you say so. This line of work really kind of kills some of the bashfulness about skin being shown, right?
[ He still can't believe his boss talked him into the whole naked cowboy act. He wasn't even that embarrassed until they had to book it to the train station.]
Dude, he was that jealous? Were you cool with that? I mean, legit thing to be worried about though.
Especially if you have to change out of your costume in front of others. Yanking off skin tight leather while it makes that 'shrrrrrp' sound kind of kills any kind of sexiness.
Yes, he was that jealous and no, I hated it. I don't like having my loyalties questioned like that.
Oh yeah, the horde was pretty sizeable for a long time. When I first joined up we numbered into the hundreds but casualties, some arrests and recruitments dwindled numbers down to the 80's for years.
[ He purposely left out death by Samson, that was the biggest factor. ]
With no trust there can be no love, jealousy will drive you mad.
It is! XP
Right, of course.

Ballet is cool though, lots of assassins in comics go that route.

[ He half expected they would all be invited to some kind of guild thing this year. A stiff corporate Halloween party, lame. ]
Wait? Pain with ballet? You gotta explain that one, I'm curious now. Is it the standing on tippy toes bit?

[ Not like that house doesn't stand out but it was his bosses house, and he didn't know how the Monarch would react. ]
Dude that sounds horrifying, like torture! OMG. Are you willingly do that?
no subject
Yup. I willingly started when I was four years old. It's worth it to me to be able to express emotions and a story through body movement and dance.
no subject
Okay, I know I've said this a few times, but SO worth repeating. Total badass. You're awesome.
no subject
Oh goodness, that's sweet of you to say. Thank you, you're pretty awesome as well.

Nah, it sounds like the truth to me. But thanks all the same!

I could see it.

Yes, he was that jealous and no, I hated it. I don't like having my loyalties questioned like that.
no subject
That sucks, no one should have to deal with their loyalties being questioned. That above the rest, it's a sacred thing, trust.
no subject
I agree. Trust and honesty are very big things with me, I'd rather someone be honest even if it hurts me.

Did just quote Moulin Rogue at me?
no subject
Yeah, maybe. So what, it's true.

I'm not judging you, I love that movie.
